Enrolment at the Academy is conditional upon the acceptance of the terms & conditions herein.

EQUIPMENT: Photographic equipment, computers, software and any other item of equipment needed for a course, unless specifically and clearly stated, is not provided and not included in the course fees.

COURSE NOTES: The course manuals are provided on CD in PDF format.

INDEMNITY: The Johnathan Andrews Academy (JAA) is a division of Johnathan Andrews (Pty) Ltd and students herewith indemnify all entities and persons connected to JAA from any loss, injury or damage that may be suffered as a result of attending JAA courses and or taking part in JAA activities. Although all reasonable steps are taken to ensure the safety of course attendees, we hereby indemnify ourselves of loss, injury or damage that may be suffered as a result of negligence of any of our staff or associates. You are urged to ensure that you obtain adequate equipment insurance and take responsibility of your own safety and care for your equipment. In the event that you agree to become involved as an assistant or volunteer for any JAA projects or other opportunities not directly linked to JAA, then you agree that you become involved out of your own free will and we will not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury of any nature as a result of your involvement.

PUBLICITY: From time to time a JAA representative may take photographs of students during training sessions and you hereby consent to the unconditional use of such images for JAA training and publicity purposes. All photographs that a student takes over the duration of a course and that are submitted to JAA as part of an assignment or otherwise, may be used unconditionally by JAA for training and publicity purposes. Where photographs are used the student is acknowledged but no remuneration is payable for the use of such images.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS: Students are required to inform JAA of any medical condition that that may have. If important medical information is withheld from JAA, a student may be expelled immediately.

STUDENT OBLIGATION & EXPULSION: All students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the highest integrity and respect for all persons which they will engage with at the Academy. Any student who causes any nuisance, disturbance, distraction, fails to complete assignments, disrespects peers and or Academy staff shall be suspended from the Academy. A suspended student may be granted conditional re-entry into the Academy. The conditions of re-entry shall be determined by the Academy Director, who is not obliged to consent to re-entry. In the event that a student is granted re-entry and fails to observe the re-entry conditions shall be expelled from the Academy and the Academy reserves the right to remedies at law if it so deems fit. An expelled student shall forfeit all fees paid to the Academy.

TRAINING VENUES: Most of the classroom sessions are presented at 79b,79 Simon Bekker Road, Germiston South unless stated otherwise. Please refer to the relevant information section for each module for training venue information. We reserve the right to change training venues as may be required from time to time.

TRANSPORT & ACCOMMODATION: Transport to and from the training venues and locations is not included in the course fees. For certain practical training sessions it may be more convenient to stay close to the training venues e.g. the first light practical training session. The cost of accommodation is not included in course fees.

SCHEDULE AND CHANGES: We will endeavor to our utmost to keep to the published times, dates and locations for training sessions , but we reserve the right to change dates, times and locations as we may from time to time deem fit.

CIRRICULUM: JAA reservs the right the augment, alter and change entirely the cirriculum of the courses if in the sole discretion of JAA it is deemed necessary. Generally, such changes will not affect training coutcomes and no refunds of course fees for courses to which cirriculum changes are effected will be done.

CANCELLATIONS: Course fees are not refundable if an applicant/student cancels a booking within 14 days from the commencement date of a course. If a cancellation is made within 30 days from the commencement date of a course a 50% refund on monies paid will apply. Forfeiture of monies paid can be avoided by moving a booking to an alternative course commencement date provided that notification reaches us no later than 7 days prior to the course commencement date. Refunds may take up to 120 days and longer to process. No vouchers issued by the Academy are transferable for cash.

ACCOUNTS: If you have selected to pay the course fees for the Certification in Applied Digital Photography in installments, please note that installments must be paid on or before the due date (due date for installments is on or before the 1st day of a month) to avoid cancellation of your enrollment. Any payments which are received after the 2nd day of a month shall be subject to interest of 2.5% per month. Should course fees remain outstanding for 7 days after being requested to settle such arrears amounts via email to the email address herein, your registration will be cancelled and all fees paid to date will be forfeited and you will not be entitled to attend classes, submit assignments and enjoy any benefits of students while your registration is cancelled. Reinstatement of your registration may at the discretion of JAA management be considered if arrears fees and interest is settled and a student shows satisfactory progress in the course.

COURSE FEES: Course fees must be settled in full on commencement of a course, unless payments terms are agreed to by us in writing. JAA reserves the right to levy a surcharge on course fees if course fees are not settled in full on enrollment. Foreign students are required to settle course fees in full before course commencement – upon settlement of course fees we are able to issue confirmation of enrollment. A charge of R495 is levied to ransfer a registration to another course date. If a discount applies to any course, the full course fee has to be settled to qualify for this discount and no terms possible.

ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments must be handed in on CD or DVD in the format requested. It is your responsibility to ensure that JAA received your assignment on due date. If you have handed in your assignments and do not receive confirmation of the same from a JAA representative, please contact us to rectify the matter. No extensions of assignment due dates are allowed. Assignments that are not handed in on or before the due date will not be marked. In exceptional cases where an extension is in deed allowed, a late submission fee of R250 shall be payable by a student per assignment that is submitted for marking. Any permission for late submission of assignments shall only be valid if officially given via e-mail notice by an authorized JAA representative.

GENERAL: JAA reserves the right to transfer student registrations and training obligations to another legal entity and or third party if it deems such a transfer to be to the benefit of a student. Students will be informed within 60 days from the date that such a change takes place by means of notice posted on this web page. A student shall not have the right to object to such a transfer. In the case of such a transfer, the indebtedness of a student in respect of monies owed for course fees shall transfer to the other legal entity or third party and the student shall become a debtor of the new entity.
